Private Yoga Lessons
Service Description
My "why" for teaching. I'm not sure if I found yoga or if yoga found me, but either way it saved me. Ten years ago, I was dealing with heavy bouts of depression, anger, and anxiety; through yoga I was put on a path of healing. Initially, yoga was just a physical practice, but eventually it led me on a spiritual, emotional, and deep healing journey. I began listening to sensations my body was sending me, learned how to respond rather than react to triggering situations, found more peace in my mind, felt stronger and at ease in my physical body, and truly learned how to love myself. While I deeply love yoga, what I struggle with the most in the yoga community is the thought yoga needs to "look a certain way". Being a material society coupled with social media, people shy away from this practice because they feel they don't fit the "mold". Here's the thing...there is no mold. This is a practice that can be for everyONE and everyBODY. At its core, yoga is a practice of coming home to self and bringing together the mind and body. Yoga works on the physical body for strength and ease, the mental and emotional self, and can elevate your spiritual side if that resonates with you. None of which requires you to stand on your head or wear fancy leggings. In saying all of this, I still understand the hesitation of not wanting to drop into a public class if it brings up feelings of discomfort or vulnerability; however, if you are interested in beginning yoga but not ready for public classes, private yoga can be a great place to start. Whether you are looking for strictly a physical practice to build more strength, relieve the aches and pain, or ready to begin your own healing journey, I would be honored to help you along the way.
